Yoga For Recovery
Yoga is a powerful tool that can help you on your journey to recovery. While AA and similar meetings focus primarily on the psychological and social aspects of addiction recovery, yoga addresses the physical, mental, and emotional aspects, creating a well-rounded approach to healing
Do you struggle with addiction?
Or maybe you have been in recovery for a long time and want to move beyond it?
If so, then this course is for you!
This 8-week course is designed to support individuals on their journey to overcoming addiction, breaking old habits, and developing new, healthier ones. Led by a yoga therapist, this course is particularly effective in addressing the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of addiction.

How does it work?
Yoga has an array of specific tools that can be effectively utilized to help break addictive behaviors. Through the structured application of yoga therapy, we'll delve deep into the underlying causes of these behaviors. This holistic approach includes techniques such as mindful breathing (pranayama), which helps to calm the nervous system, change the state of the body and reduce stress-induced cravings; meditation, which gives new experiences and patterns to replace those of addictive ones; and physical postures (asanas), which release stored tension, trauma and unresolved emotions. By consistently practicing these techniques, individuals can not only replace destructive habits with healthier ones but also work towards eliminating the root causes of their addictions.
Each session of this 8 week course follows the Y12SR (Yoga of 12-Step Recovery) format, beginning with an open share group followed by a custom tailored therapeutic yoga practice. The group will be limited to a maximum of 10 participants.

Enrollment in this course also includes a 30-minute intake consultation with our yoga therapist Kevala, during which she will assess your individual needs, set personalized goals, and create a tailored plan to support your journey towards recovery and holistic well-being.

Please note, this course is not included in our standard membership plan and has its own separate fee and registration. Your enrollment fee will go towards supporting the Y12SR (Yoga of 12 Step Recovery Program).

Did You Know?
Did you know that the 12-Step programs of AA, NA, CoDA, etc. were developed based on the Yoga Sutras?
Yoga is the foundation of the 12 Steps because it provides recovering addicts many different tools to help maintain sobriety, reintegrate self, and help prevent relapse. It combines the structure of a 12-step meeting with the practices and philosophies of yoga.
Y12SR is designed to help heal recovering addicts and persons affected by addictions.
These meetings do not replace 12-step recovery meetings such as AA, NA, CoDA, etc., but they are used as a supplement to these types of meetings and provide a different outlook on the journey to recovery.
