About the Course
Chair yoga is a gentle practice in which āsanas (postures) are performed while seated and/or with the aid of a chair.
Anyone with mobility or balance issues can enjoy the benefits of yoga without having to get up and down on a floor mat. It is also a great class for beginners or anyone who wants to focus on a gentle practice.
A large number of poses ranging from spinal twists and hip openers to chest openers and forward bends can be modified to be preformed on a chair.
Using a chair as a tool, you can experience the many benefits yoga offers, such as feelings of well being and peace, increased strength and flexibility, increased circulation and decreased blood pressure, decreased stress, anxiety and depression, decreased inflammation a reduction of acute or chronic pain, and improved sleep.
Staying seated while doing yoga allows even those with physical limitations or injuries to safely do the yoga poses.
