About the Course
While traditional yoga works on your muscles (yang tissues), Yin yoga is designed to target deep connective tissues such as fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones.
Postures can be held for three to five minutes at a time, or even up to twenty minutes at a time. Because you are holding poses for a longer period of time than you would in a traditional yoga class, yin yoga helps to stretch and lengthen the rarely used tissues in your body while also teaching you how to breath through discomfort and sit with your thoughts.
This is a slower, more meditative practice that is designed to help you turn inward and create an awareness of your mind and the physical sensations in your body.
This class is suitable for all levels of students and is a perfect complement to the other dynamic muscular (yang) styles of classes we offer that emphasize internal heat and the lengthening and contracting of muscles.
